Rise On Up

Everywhere I turn, I see it. Suffering. Pain. Sorrow. My compassion can barely stand itself. Have you noticed it too, friend? A tide of trouble beats against the shores of my heart, begging a prayer or two or ten. It sometimes feels like more than a heart was made to hold. We want life and health and peace for our…

What If…

What if… What if time served us rather than us serving it? What if the church were a judgement-free zone? There’s nothing worth more that will ever come close   What if poverty wasn’t? And humility was? No thing can compare You’re our Living Hope   What if we lived as a people who believed in the power of prayer?…

Snow Still Falls in Spring

When we first moved from the deep-south to the mid-west, I devoted many-an-hour to my favorite new past-time: Watching fresh snow fall from the heavens. (A sky-show we Sunshine StateΒ  girls dream of all our lives.) Rhythmic magic, drifting in peaceful purpose, as if called for calm by its Maker. And, it didn’t disappoint. Until that day in May, six…

Hope is Alive

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” Hebrews 10:23-24 Hold tightly What comes to mind when you think of holding something tightly? A child’s hand in traffic? A $100 bill on…

Honestly

Ever feel like you’re living on a prayer? Like you’re listening to God, and feel certain you’re minding your yesesΒ  and noes and maybes… And yet… You wonder if you’re the right girl for the job, because you limp into bed each night with the weight of your people and your compassions and your sorrows settled like an elephant on…

Dear friend, are you living in a season of hope up Dear friend, are you living in a season of hope upon hope? If so, I understand. πŸ’—
.
The relentlessness of some seasons has a way of tethering our threadbare hearts to hope.
.
Unlike other holy hallmarks, sometimes hope can feel hard to define. π˜“π˜°π˜·π˜¦ feels wild and strong; 𝘧𝘒π˜ͺ𝘡𝘩, grounded and secure. Yet, hope can seem wistful, intangible.
.
But, more and more I'm realizing that even though hope seems an elegant mysteryβ€”Hope is a force unto itself.
.
In today's Proverbs 31 Ministries devotion, 𝘏𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘒𝘳𝘡𝘒𝘀𝘩𝘦 π˜“π˜ͺ𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘴, I share how God meets us inside this beautiful mystery of hope with all of Himself. His power has not lost its authority. πŸ™Œ
.
Dear friend, I'm here alongside you as together we hold hope inside the lingering heavy seasons of life. πŸ’—

The neon numbers on my nightstand clock insisted i The neon numbers on my nightstand clock insisted it was midnight, yet it may as well have been midday as far as my active mind was concerned.
.
Weariness swept my spirit as the enemy nagged notions of angst. π˜“π˜°π˜³π˜₯, 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘀𝘒𝘯 𝘐 𝘀𝘰𝘯𝘡π˜ͺ𝘯𝘢𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘡𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘱 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 𝘣𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦π˜₯ 𝘰𝘢𝘡? I begged softly into the night.
.
Turns out, trying to fill every moment of opportunity can leave you feeling empty of rest.
.
Dear friend, can you relate to being in that place of striving to do it all, lest you miss out on something meaningful, while quietly feeling weary and worn?
.
We often hear the acronym FOMOβ€”the β€œfear of missing out.” But what a lullaby it would sing to our weary spirits, if instead we embraced a different kind of FOMOβ€”the β€œfreedom of missing out.” πŸ™Œ
