Encouraging Women to Live Rooted in the Sacred

When Broken Places Become Timely Places

Perhaps I’ve had a daydream (or three) of someone coming by to make beds and vacuum floors—but this wasn’t exactly how I pictured it going down. Quite the country mile (on a muddy gravel road) from what we’d planned, but nonetheless… Suite 229 would be our address for a while. Housekeeping angels aside, those months of hotel life were anything…

Rise On Up

Everywhere I turn, I see it. Suffering. Pain. Sorrow. My compassion can barely stand itself. Have you noticed it too, friend? A tide of trouble beats against the shores of my heart, begging a prayer or two or ten. It sometimes feels like more than a heart was made to hold. We want life and health and peace for our…

What If…

What if… What if time served us rather than us serving it? What if the church were a judgement-free zone? There’s nothing worth more that will ever come close   What if poverty wasn’t? And humility was? No thing can compare You’re our Living Hope   What if we lived as a people who believed in the power of prayer?…

Snow Still Falls in Spring

When we first moved from the deep-south to the mid-west, I devoted many-an-hour to my favorite new past-time: Watching fresh snow fall from the heavens. (A sky-show we Sunshine State  girls dream of all our lives.) Rhythmic magic, drifting in peaceful purpose, as if called for calm by its Maker. And, it didn’t disappoint. Until that day in May, six…

Hope is Alive

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” Hebrews 10:23-24 Hold tightly What comes to mind when you think of holding something tightly? A child’s hand in traffic? A $100 bill on…

Honestly

Ever feel like you’re living on a prayer? Like you’re listening to God, and feel certain you’re minding your yeses  and noes and maybes… And yet… You wonder if you’re the right girl for the job, because you limp into bed each night with the weight of your people and your compassions and your sorrows settled like an elephant on…

Too many years I spent not understanding my worth Too many years I spent not understanding my worth in God’s plan, not grasping how my unique ways are the very Spirit of God in me.
.
Friend, I hope you know that the unique, intrinsic ways you think and see and live—God placed them inside the blueprint that is you—for purpose.
.
Trust the Still, Small Voice beating in sync with your heart, whispering, “You were made for this.”
.
You won’t be perfect at it. You’ll learn as you go, for the whole of your life. You’ll not “arrive.” There’ll always be more love to give, more hope to nurture, more seeds to sow, more service to sacrifice.
.
And it will be a life well spent.
.
So spend it. Walk in your inherent, you-shaped calling. Trust the nudge in your belly, the desire that feels too big, the Voice guiding your heart & holding your hand.
.
You were made to sing this song of praise with your life, my friend. 💗
.
.
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp & then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your Heavenly Father.” (Matt. 5:14-16)

Friend, are you like me & feeling a little disconn Friend, are you like me & feeling a little disconnected after these last two years of social distancing. If so, I understand. 💗
.
In today’s devotion over at Proverbs 31 Ministries, I share of a time when I felt unknown by the community around me, as well as a current feeling of disconnection the last couple of socially-distanced years have brought.
.
So thankful we have a God who knows us through-and-through, and who walks with us in every season of our lives. 🙌
.
As we all begin to take awkward steps toward re-establishing in-person connections this year, May we never forget how very *known,* and *loved* by God we are.
.
Oh, that we would find our greatest comfort & community in Him. 💗
