Encouraging Women to Live Rooted in the Sacred

in Uncategorized

What If…

What if…

What if time served us rather than us serving it?

What if the church were a judgement-free zone?

There’s nothing worth more

That will ever come close

What if poverty wasn’t?

And humility was?

No thing can compare

You’re our Living Hope

What if we lived as a people who believed in the power of prayer?

And we embraced acceptance, forcing playground politics into extinction?

Your presence, Lord

What if we looked each other in the eyes, giving voice to the unspoken?

And took new people under our wings, remembering we were new once too?

What if we lived like we were dying, honoring this whisper of time we’re given?

I’ve tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves

Where my heart becomes free, and my shame is undone

What if we traded gossip for grace? Comparison for compassion? Disgrace for dignity?

What if transparency trumped appearances?

And stillness replaced busyness?

Your presence, Lord

What if we ate the bread of unity and drank the wine of laughter?

And were half as considerate of a world without Christ as we are of a world with electronics?

Holy Spirit, You are welcome here

Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere

What if we were fluent in the language of forgiveness?

And deaf to the voice of empty criticism?

Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for

To be overcome by your presence, Lord

What if our chains were bound to the eternal, rather than the temporal?

And we raised palms in praise, rather than fingers in blame?

Let us become more aware of Your presence

Let us experience the glory of Your goodness

What if we served the least of these?

And counted it all gain?

What if…

Let us become more aware of Your presence

Let us experience the glory of Your goodnessflower-dd8585

I’m your neighbor at Coffee for your Heart. I love how your thoughts meander when you ask “what if?” That really is a question we should ask ourselves often to gain a fresh perspective! And Francesca’s song is one of my favorites! 🙂

While I’ve never been through separation or divo While I’ve never been through separation or divorce in marriage, so many truths on the pages of this new book by @traciemiles resonated with me.
.
You see, there are other forms of “divorce” in life beyond the marital ones, and we don’t always get to chose who accepts us, loves us, values us.
.
Rejection stings, whispering lies into our psyches. Unworthiness takes root, growing weeds of pain where beauty should bloom.

This time last year, I was 11 days into what was s This time last year, I was 11 days into what was supposed to be a one-month sugar fast. After going a little sideways on the holiday sugar the previous month, I decided to re-center & nix the sugar for January 2020.
.
Fast forward to January 2021, over 12 months later, and I’m sill sugar free.
.
Never did I intend to make this a lifestyle, it just sort of chose me. When I got to February & saw all the valentine candy, knowing my affinity for those dang chewy cinnamon and cherry hearts, it only seemed right to continue my fast another month.
.
But, in rolled March being all tempting with her candies of Easter, so I continued through April.
.
But, a funny thing happened on the way to May. By May, I didn’t really want sugar anymore. (Mostly.)
.
So, here I am in January 2021 still sugar-free. I’ve lost 34 pounds, and feel so much better.
.
Friend, who do you want to be this time next year? Whatever that goal is that feels big & daunting, I’m here to tell you that—you can do it!
.
What will the “you of January 2022” be thankful to the “you of today” for doing?
.
Show up for her! Change is rarely comfortable & easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it, or that you’re not worthy of it, my friend.
.
We can get so busy with life & family & ministry that we forget to show up for ourselves. It’s not selfish to remember your goals & dreams, friend. Allow those seeds God planted to instinctively guide you as you baby-step your way to success.
.
And, if you’ve already fallen off the wagon with your new-year goals, no worries! It’s okay! Brush yourself off, give yourself grace, and begin anew! You’ll be glad you did this time next year!
.
You’ve got this, friend; I believe in you! 💗
