Encouraging Women to Live Rooted in the Sacred

Sweet Somethings

Welcome back, friends.

Greetings from the Chasing Holiness Cafe’. Grab a cozy table in the corner, and enjoy these Sweet Somethings (calorie-free, of course), chosen just for you. May your soul find refreshment today as we  begin this brand new month in 2016.

1.

“You got to take that gift that’s packed away on your back, you got to jump off that cliff and pull that cord. That gift opens up and provides the soar.” — Steve Harvey

Remember those Discomfort Zones we talked about last month? Well, whata’ya know—Steve Harvey has a little something to say about it too.

If you’re anything like me (and I’m betting you are) our heart’s cry is to make a difference.  And, friends—differences aren’t made in the comfort zones.

We want the measure of our lives to be more than the intangible, the barren, the comfortable. In order to have eternal impact, we have to jump.

Grab a pew and get your Amen on. Welcome to the The Steve Harvey Church of God. (Otherwise known as The Family Feud.)  Steve said it best in this short (six minute) video: “The only way for you to soar, is you got to jump.”

The video clip “Jump” is no longer active. There are other active videos on youtube, but out of respect for Mr. Harvey, I’ve chosen not to link an unauthorized video. It is, however, on his site, IAmSteveHarvey.com under the title: “You’ve Got to Jump.” If you have six free minutes to pop over and watch it, I promise you won’t regret it.

“You cannot just exist in this life, you’ve got to try to live.”  — Steve Harvey

    Brenda,
God really has me in the “uncomfort zone” – starting and fostering a non-profit foundation is not in my bag of tricks or strengths. This is a whole new venture for me. All the more reason I need to, as you point out, “Seek” Him and His way because I really don’t know exactly where the path is leading. I do believe that God purposely takes us outside our comfort zone so that we have no other choice but to seek Him, trust Him, and follow Him. Great reminders for me this am.!
    Blessings friend,
    Bev xx
ps. A note is on its way to you…would love to meet up with you!!

Hey, Bev. 🙂 I can only imagine your “uncomfort zone”–what you are doing is so impressive to me. Won’t it be fun to look back and see the path He took you on, and realize the difference that it made. Praying for this beautiful ministry of yours. Look forward to getting together. 🙂 ((hug))

Good morning, dear Brenda. I thought about your question, and I think I’m savoring the peace that only Christ gives. Things have been difficult lately with my husband’s work slowing way down and my truck needing parts we can’t afford. In the past this would have made me anxious but God knows all about it. He’s worthy to be trusted. It will all be fine, I know.
(I think I’m being tested with my one word “patience”, what do you think?).

such entertaining wisdom, refreshing! I’m savoring little and big things I’m grateful for..we’ve had a bit of stress in transitions with our work, so rather than focus on fear, despair, etc..I am shifting my mind to the things God has given us we’re so grateful for! Blessings today from #testimonytuesday!

Brenda this is such confirmation to what God has been speaking to me over the past month. Getting out of my comfort zone is definitely the theme of the year for me. =) How are we ever supposed to go to the next level of what God has for us if we don’t step out and do it afraid? Thanks for sharing it on Thought Provoking Thursday.

Hi Brenda, I’m so glad we bumped into each other on Faith n’ Friends. This past week God has been reminding me that He has my day all figured out, not me. And in fact, that was the best thing I needed. I love how personal he is and how He always calls me back to rely on him. Wishing you blessings!

While I’ve never been through separation or divo While I’ve never been through separation or divorce in marriage, so many truths on the pages of this new book by @traciemiles resonated with me.
.
You see, there are other forms of “divorce” in life beyond the marital ones, and we don’t always get to chose who accepts us, loves us, values us.
.
Rejection stings, whispering lies into our psyches. Unworthiness takes root, growing weeds of pain where beauty should bloom.
.
And friend—if, like author Tracie Miles, you are living through the aftermath of divorce, she sweetly meets you in that sacred space with vulnerability and tools to help you move forward into a bright new future you may not have dared to dream for yourself.

Anyone who purchases this beautiful new book by February 1, 2021 will receive 5 lovely gifts to jumpstart their journey to healing. To receive these gifts visit davidcook.org/tracie-miles-living-unbroken-preorder .

If you decide to order, I’d love to know your thoughts & how it impacts your spirit. Please let me know how I can pray for you, sweet friend. God is not finished with the story of you. 💗

This time last year, I was 11 days into what was s This time last year, I was 11 days into what was supposed to be a one-month sugar fast. After going a little sideways on the holiday sugar the previous month, I decided to re-center & nix the sugar for January 2020.
.
Fast forward to January 2021, over 12 months later, and I’m sill sugar free.
.
Never did I intend to make this a lifestyle, it just sort of chose me. When I got to February & saw all the valentine candy, knowing my affinity for those dang chewy cinnamon and cherry hearts, it only seemed right to continue my fast another month.

But, in rolled March being all tempting with her candies of Easter, so I continued through April.
.
But, a funny thing happened on the way to May. By May, I didn’t really want sugar anymore. (Mostly.)
.
So, here I am in January 2021 still sugar-free. I’ve lost 34 pounds, and feel so much better.
.
Friend, who do you want to be this time next year? Whatever that goal is that feels big & daunting, I’m here to tell you that—you can do it!
.
What will the “you of January 2022” be thankful to the “you of today” for doing?
.
Show up for her! Change is rarely comfortable & easy, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it, or that you’re not worthy of it, my friend.
.
We can get so busy with life & family & ministry that we forget to show up for ourselves. It’s not selfish to remember your goals & dreams, friend. Allow those seeds God planted to instinctively guide you as you baby-step your way to success.
.
And, if you’ve already fallen off the wagon with your new-year goals, no worries! It’s okay! Brush yourself off, give yourself grace, and begin anew! You’ll be glad you did this time next year!

You’ve got this, friend; I believe in you! 💗

We hold these moments close, protective of their scars, as they nestle deep within our personalities, affecting the way we view ourselves and others.

Whatever the hurts of our lives, our meandering minds aren’t shy about chasing illusions, wondering who we would have been had certain chapters been absent from our stories.
